Appleton Downtown Inc. will be hosting its first Downtown Virtual Shop Hop event tomorrow Thursday, April 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. A total of 13 local boutiques and shops are offering specials, giveaways and more virtually via a Facebook event. 

Event participants should log on to Facebook during the event time and visit the event page on Appleton Downtown’s Facebook page. They are encouraged to get cozy with a beverage of choice and “hop” from shop to shop without leaving their couch. Throughout the 2-hour event, featured videos from the participating shops will be shared in the “Discussion” tab highlighting specials and products just for the shop hoppers. The videos will act as the “Shop Hop Guide” leading participants to the Facebook pages and websites of the 13 different shops. 

Shops will post one-night-only specials, fashion tips and trends, outfit ideas and more. Many of the special offers will be valid only during the Virtual Shop Hop event.  

Participating venues include Beatnik Betty’s Resale Butik, Blue Moon Emporium, Casting On, Cedar Harbor, Crazy Sweet, hey, daisy!, Hoot & Company, Joseph’s Shoes, Lillians of Appleton, Mud & Prints, Poppy Avenue Boutique, ScooterG Sports and The Vintage Garden. 

“This is a difficult time for many of the small businesses downtown, who now are relying solely on online sales due to their physical storefronts needing to be closed,” Marketing Director for Appleton Downtown Inc. Lynn Schemm said in a statement. “The Virtual Shop Hop allows us as a downtown district to still come together like many of our typical events, just virtually this time around.  The shops need our support now more than ever and we are so excited for this new event to drive traffic to their online platforms and do just that.”  

At the end of the virtual shopping, attendees will be encouraged to share photos of their purchases in the event page to be entered in to win $100 in Downtown Appleton Gift Certificates to keep supporting and shopping local. Up to five winners will be selected thanks to the support of Tundraland, AZCO Inc., Fox Communities Credit Union, Renewal by Andersen and Ascension.
