Fox Cities Amplified: A New Musician Interview Series

“Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There’s not some trick involved with it. It’s pure and it’s real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things,” said the late Tom Petty, a musical icon to many generations.

Music is one of the few things that bring people from all walks of life together. It can be defined as vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion. This definition alone is why I chose to write about one of the things that bring me the most triumph in life: music. In my experience, musicians put their whole lives into their work, and it shows. Their joy becomes our joy; their pain our pain.

The Fox Cities is an up-and-coming music hub. New musicians and bands are popping up everywhere, and the whole music scene is growing each day. In this blog series, I wish to convey the importance of music, give detailed biographies about the artists themselves, provide information about the genre of music highlighted in each post and show how the Fox Cities are expanding as a music-filled region.

All types of music making are relevant; however, I would like to mostly tell the stories of local singer/song writers. This will include individuals and groups who write their own songs and live primarily in the Fox Cities. My series will focus on these musicians as opposed to cover bands, because I’d like to give readers insight into the music writing process.

Through this blog series, I will be taking you on a journey of the lives of many musicians residing in the Fox Cities. I will clue you in on how they started, what inspires them and what they’re currently working on. I will provide insight into just what their music means to them and exactly what category their music falls into. I encourage you to go out and see these amazing musicians and support the local cause.

Which local bands/musicians do you make sure to catch when they perform? Tell us in the comments below.
