Rent a Ukulele

oahu-koa-iiiThe Neenah Public Library, in partnership with Heid Music, has established a ukulele lending collection. Library patrons are now able to check out one of eight ukuleles for four weeks at a time, the same as they would a book or DVD. The ukulele kits include a Kala soprano ukulele, a gig bag, an electronic tuner and an instruction booklet with access to online learning tools.
This fall the library will offer informal Saturday morning open jam sessions for uke players of all levels, hosted by musician Mike Iverson. The jam sessions begin Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. and will run through November 19. In addition, the Library will host weekly group classes taught by Sam ‘Alika Bader, a native Hawaiian and Lawrence University student, who has been playing ukulele for 11 years. Students will learn the basics of the instrument, strum patterns and how to play chords.
