An event that has made its presence known in the Fox Valley, Octoberfest returns for its 35th year on September 23 and 24 in downtown Appleton. Octoberfest features music, vendors, booths, volunteerism, philanthropy and fun. The weekend kicks off with the annual License to Cruise classic car show on Friday evening and continues with a full Saturday of music and vendors all down College Avenue, this year with expanded music offerings that will start at 9 a.m. on all six stages. Some new bands this year will be The Squeezettes, Them Howling Bones and Mistrial.

The best part? Attending the festival means giving back to the community. The Octoberfest organization itself gives back $40,000 in grant money to local non-profits. Funds from food booths go to all sorts of area organizations, including churches, optimists clubs, boy scout troops and even the Appleton Police Department canine program.
