My Favorite Broadway Show: Les Misérables

I’m so looking forward to attending the performance of Les Misérables next week at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center! Marvin and I have seen it many many times… even at the theatre where it premiered in London years earlier when we happened to be on a trip to England.

And, we’ve watched (many, many times) the various versions in movies and the 25th Anniversary Stage Production. I remember years ago telling Marv how guilty I felt that I loved Les Mis more than Phantom of the Opera.

So, I wanted to share a point that I discovered whenever I talk about Les Mis with someone.  Almost everyone has missed the line in a song where Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert are singing over each other in the number The Confrontation.  Inspector Javert’s lines (although very hard to hear) are :

You know nothing of Javert
I was born inside a jail
I was born with scum like you
I am from the gutter too

WOW. So… think that might have something to do with his thoughts about crime and justice?

Can’t wait for the curtain to go up next Tuesday night at the PAC!
