Pages in the Park
August 6
Enjoy a self-led story walk in the woods. Pages from a delightful picture book will be stationed along the stroller-friendly path to read together as you enjoy the beauty of nature. A craft related to the story will be available in the pavilion. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner for a fun family evening in the park. Sponsored by the Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library and the Little Chute Park and Rec. Dept. 5-7pm. Heesakker Park, Little Chute. 788-7825.
Appleton in the Great War Walking Tour
August 7
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the United States’ troops coming home after their involvement in World War I. Join the History Museum at the Castle as you walk the historic grounds of Riverside and St. Joseph’s Cemeteries, and remember the courage and ultimate sacrifice of Appleton’s Company A – 150th Machine Gun Battalion, during the Great War. A pair of good walking shoes is recommended! 6pm. Riverside & St. Joseph’s Cemeteries, Appleton. 735-9370.
Campfire and Night Hike
August 17
Families and adults experience the life of a nocturnal animal through a series of sensory based experiments out on the conservancy. Start the evening with a group campfire, so bring hotdogs and marshmallows to roast. Roasting sticks and campfire provided. 8-9:30pm. 1000 Islands Environmental Center, Kaukauna. 766-4733.
Fairy Walk
August 26
Walk around the 1000 Islands boardwalk to vote for your favorite fairy house. Fairy costumes are highly recommended for extra fun this evening! Live music, food, crafts, face painting, balloons and more! Enter your own fairy house into the competition. Registration strongly encouraged; tickets are free. 5-7:30pm. 1000 Islands Environmental Center, Kaukauna. 766-6340.
