This class will focus on drawing the human portrait in charcoal. Students will learn the basics of anatomy and construction of the head to help enhance their portraiture. This hands on class will also cover shadows and lights and how the two of them work together to create form. Completion of this class will result in a better understanding of drawing the portrait and making the subjects come to life on the paper.
About the Instructor:
Nathan Brandner is a classically trained artist, he finds inspiration in the people and places around him. He is moved by the romantic notion of the past and uses that notion to convey common human conditions to his audience. Having a degree from UW-Stevens Point in art Nathan has also studied painting in Florence, Italy and at the Academy of Fine art in Denmark Wisconsin. Nathan has also been recognized for his work though multiple awards and various press coverage around his home state of Wisconsin.
