Experience more than 150 works from Dr. Smith’s African-American Heritage Museum and Black Veterans Archive in Aurora, Illinois, most of which have not been on view since the site was disassembled in 1999. A preacher, activist, and Vietnam veteran, Dr. Smith made hundreds of sculptures of historical figures, community members, and celebrities to depict the tragedies and triumphs of the African-American experience.
