This Victorian Christmas, Hearthstone is highlighting some of the trends in late 19th century holiday decorating and tradition. Our designs are inspired from period magazines, newspapers, and photographs, including the re-creation of the first tree to have electric lights!
Handcrafted holiday décor, lavishly decorated trees in every room, and our docents dressed in their finest Victorian holiday attire are ready to welcome you with Christmas spirit.
We are bringing to life the traditions that were a part of every well-to-do Victorian home: Sumptuous displays; tables set with the finest holiday china and silver; and Victorian toys.
Our evening events are open-house affairs with no set guided tour. Holiday merry-makers are encouraged to wander from room to room to take in the sights at their own pace. Our docents will be on-hand in each room, donning their Victorian holiday finest, to explain Victorian holiday traditions and to answer any questions that may arise. The evenings also feature traditional Christmas carols played on our 1875 Kranich and Bach square grand piano as well as other musical performances.
