Be ready for a hot Havana night, even though it is November, when Cuba’s most popular dance company, Havana-based Dance Cuba, comes to the Arts Center. Dance Cuba is inspired by the creative force of dancer and choreographer Lizt Alfonso. Trained in classical ballet and folkloric traditions, the dancers are accompanied by musicians in evoking the love, disappointment, celebration, romance, flirtations, and evolution of Cuban music and dance from the 1950s to today. With good humor and riveting energy, the Cuba Vibra! program is an explosive fusion of mambo, rhumba, conga, flamenco, ballet, cha-cha, and more—all the rhythms that vibrate the heart and fill the soul.
