What’s more fun than hands-on activities for children in our front yard under Hearthstone’s big magnolia tree ? Trick question… Nothing!
Hearthstone’s Executive Director and experienced educators will lead fun and educational activities for students K-8 that give budding young scientists and inventors lots of laughs while they learn. Among the activities will be experiments using safe household items that illustrate principles of Edison inventions. These include a simple generator, simple transmitter, and simple telegraph.
Other activities will include building working waterwheels out of Legos to understand waterpower, making “cup and string” telephones, building circuits, and making a battery!
Cost is free to families. Please note that the outside experiments do not include tours of the museum. However, there will be special pricing for families who would like to tour the museum beforehand.
Rain will move everything to the museum’s lower level.
