–A Hymn Festival celebrating the 40th anniversary of the pipe organ at First English Lutheran Church of Appleton–
Bring your voices, and join the community in song and praise! Built in 1979 by the workshop of local builder Ronald Wahl, this organ remains the largest mechanical-action organ built in Wisconsin in the 20th century. Daniel Schwandt, organist and composer, will be leading the festival. Mr. Schwandt is a native of Appleton and graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Notre Dame. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Notre Dame, and has previously served as Cantor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Chicago, Cantor to the Seminary Community at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and Cantor of Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park. This ecumenical event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support future maintenance of the organ. A reception will be held in the gathering area of the church after the festival.
