Girlfriends Read features books with strong girl characters, written for ages nine and up but with broad appeal. Meetings include lively discussion, book-related activities, and snacks. Participants are welcome to attend solo or with a friend or family member.
Join us in reading Moo by Sharon Creech. Follow twelve-year-old Reena and her family as they make a move from big city living to rural Maine. Not knowing what to expect from their new adventure, Reena and her brother Luke explore their new home by bike and meet new neighbors, human and animal alike, including Mrs. Falala, Paulie the pig, China the cat, Edna the snake, and Zora the cow. A story written in poetry and prose, it calls us to think about kindness, relationships, and learning through new experiences.
To register and get a copy of the book, stop at the Neenah Library youth desk, call for more information at 920-886-6335, or email us at [email protected]. Register early – space is limited, as are the number of books available for loan.
Girlfriends Read is made possible by the Friends of the Neenah Public Library and by the Neenah Public Library Trust Fund.
