Join us at Hearthstone House Museum to celebrate Thomas Edison’s 175th birthday! And what better day to celebrate than National Inventors’ Day!
We will be reveling in all things Edison – the world’s greatest inventor who patented an astounding 1093 inventions – during our regularly scheduled tours.
To help us celebrate, Edison enthusiasts Robin & Joan Rolfs will be displaying his favorite invention – the phonograph. The man himself said, “Of all my inventions I like the phonograph best.” The Rolfses will be playing Edison’s favorite recordings on a beautiful Edison phonograph dating from 1908. Visitors will hear not only the popular songs of the day but also the voice of Thomas A. Edison as the Rolfses will be sharing the only recording Edison made for the public on a cylinder record. Plus, there is a great story that goes along with the recording which the Rolfses will gladly share.
The Rolfses will also share the impact of Edison and his inventions on how we live today.
Our National Inventors’ Day and Edison’s birthday celebrations are included in each regular admission to Hearthstone.
