Discover Shawano’s history at the 14th Annual Rhubarb Fest, where on this day the main attraction is rhubarb. Taste the many rhubarb bake sale items including, pies, tortes, cakes, muffins, cookies and breads. Beverages like rhubarb lemonade, sangria, rhu-berry slushies and rhubarb beer. Brats, hamburgers and even ice cream will be served with a rhubarb sauce. Enter the pie contest, tour museum buildings, learn about the life of a fur trader, how to carve wood, make baskets. The Civil War Re-enactment Company E, 2nd Wisconsin will set up camp on the grounds for a firsthand experience of this transforming time in our nation’s history. Shop a unique selection of items from the Historical Society’s gift shop including a rhubarb cookbook, rhubarb jam, reproductions of Shawano County Fair Posters ad more. You will also find vendors with everything from soaps, jewelry, wood crafts, and original artwork for sale. New this year: Youth games including sack races, water balloon toss, face painting, cup stacking and more. Then sit back and enjoy live music by BLT and Ike Arumba in the morning, followed by Burnt Toast and Jam in the afternoon. Admission is free.
