LOVING WORK IN VIETNAM

Join us on Monday, Nov. 2 at 2p.m. for the adult afternoon program, Loving Work in Vietnam, at the Neenah Public Library, with Margaret Alexander.

Approaching age 67, Margaret Alexander had many questions about Vietnam. She was hearing more and more stories from veterans of the American/Vietnam War, and was wondering about conditions in the country now, 50 years later. Further, her Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, comes from Vietnam, although he lives in exile in France, now.

Last fall, Margaret saw an invitation to go to Vietnam, see some of the temples where Thich Nhat Hanh had spent time, and also be part of a group contributing Loving Work in Central Vietnam. The trip would involve a lot of bike riding on narrow country roads, which added an element of apprehension.

The 10 people in her group included two veterans of the American/Vietnam War, two Native Americans, many Buddhists, and people with an age range of 22 to 72.

Margaret will show slides of the trip, responding to questions along the way. This presentation is free and open to the public and will be held in the Shattuck Community Room on the first floor.
