The League of Women Voters of Appleton welcomes Dr. Sylvia Carey-Butler, keynote speaker for Women’s Equality Day 2017. Dr. Carey-Butler, the Associate Vice President of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, will present “Not a Feminist but a Womanist.”
She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Policy from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University and her Masters in Social Science and Counseling from Binghamton University. Dr. Carey-Butler served as Assistant Provost and Dean of Honors at Dillard University and spent seven years working for the United Negro College Fund’s Institute for Capacity Building.
