San Francisco’s first reed quintet, Splinter Reeds – one of approximately only 19 reed quintets in the world – presents a night of contemporary music to open Lawrence University’s 2016-17 New Music Series. Splinter Reeds is known for its top-tier performances of today’s best contemporary compositions and new commissions. The ensemble, part of a relatively new chamber music genre, aims to expand on the existing reed quintet repertoire through the development of new works by established composers.
