A celebration of improvisational music. Matt Turner, one of the world’s leading improvising cellists, teams with composer/improviser Hal Rammel, who performs on musical instruments of his own creation, to open the performance. New York City’s Jen Shyu follows at 9:15 p.m. with a performance of her critically acclaimed “Solo Rites: Seven Breaths.” The work combines vocals and dance with instruments ranging from the Taiwanese moon lute to the Chinese erhu. Free and open to the public.
