The 56-member Lawrence Wind Ensemble, under the direction of conductor Andy Mast, presents a program highlighted by Anthony Barfield’s tribute to the big bang theory, “Red Sky,” featuring guest soloist Tim Albright, trombone, from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music. Other works on the program include Czech composer Karel Husa’s “Music for Prague 1968,” a work written to memorialize the crushing of the “Prague Spring” democratic reform movement in Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union, and selected movements from Robert Kurka’s “Good Soldier Schweik Suite,” which was inspired by the anti-war novel of the same name. Free and open to the public.
