Under the baton of guest conductor Matthew Arau, the concert program includes Hale Smith’s “Expansions,” a dark drama of muted colors, Warren Benson’s ethereal “Passing Bell” and Andrew Boysen’s “Symphony no. 6,” a work about the transformation and emergence from darkness into light that was written specifically for the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble. Sophomore Bianca Pratte, flute, winner of the LUWE concerto competition, will be the featured soloist. Free & open to the public.
