Mark Dupere makes his debut as conductor of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra after serving as co-conductor of the Michigan State University concert orchestra the past three years. The 80-member LSO opens its 2016-17 season with performances of “Fanfare” by Paul Dukas from his oriental ballet “La Peri”; Haydn’s “Symphony No. 104,” his last, also known as the “London Symphony” and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor, nicknamed “Little Russian” for his incorporation of three Ukrainian folk songs.
