The Jazz Coterie pop-up concert series presents New York trumpeter and singer Benny Benack III.
By age 28, Benny has proven to be a rare talent. He’s a fiery trumpet player and sings with a sly, expressive delivery in the post-Sinatra mold. He performs standards and his own compositions with thrilling showmanship. Benny has been showcased in tours all over Asia and Europe, and headlined festivals around the U.S. He’s played Birdland, Mezzrow, Smalls, and Bemelmans at the Carlyle among other New York venues. Mr. Benack was a 2014 finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition. He’s a sought after clinician and educator, leading workshops for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Jazz for Young People program, as well as the New York Youth Symphony’s Education department.
Benny will be accompanied by Noah Harmon on piano, Gordon Lewis on bass, and Mike Underwood on drums. The Howard will be offering a preshow dinner option with seating at 6:00. Tickets & Info at JazzCoterie.com
