GUNS, BOMBS AND GAS GRENADES: THE MILK STRIKES OF 1933
Join us on Monday, March 7th at 2:00 p.m. for the adult afternoon program, Guns, Bombs and Gas Grenades: The Milk Strikes of 1933, with Emily Rock, Curator from the History Museum at the Castle, at the Neenah Public Library.
Did you know that Wisconsin once went to war over milk? In 1933, a group of dairy farmers, angered by the low price they were paid for milk during the Great Depression, decided to go on strike. What ensued was a series of 3 increasingly violent strikes, and the Fox Valley region found itself in the middle of the conflict. Emily Rock will explain what happened and what the final outcome was of the Milk Strike of 1933.
This presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the adult services desk at 920.886.6315.
