FIRST FRIDAY CONCERT SERIES
SEAN GASKELL, MUSIC OF THE WEST AFRICAN KORA
Join us at the Neenah Public Library for a fantastic concert with Sean Gaskell on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Sean will perform, “Music of the West African Kora” where he will play the kora harp, share his experience with the instrument and discuss the history behind the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. He will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the Koras musical repertoire in addition to some of his own personal compositions.
Sean learned how to play the Kora over many visits to Gambia, West Africa, studying with experienced Kora musicians. Now based in North Carolina, Sean has been featured in several festivals throughout the United States, Gambia and Senegal.
The hour-long concert will take place in the first floor Shattuck Community Room at the Neenah Public Library. All interested individuals are welcome to attend this free event.
