Neenah-Menasha in Vintage Postcards: 1890-1970
Author and Menasha native David Galassie returns to the library to discuss highlights of his new book paying tribute to Neenah-Menasha as it was portrayed during the Golden Age of postcards.
Old postcards can evoke memories of the past and provide glimpses into our history and culture. During the Golden Age of postcards (1898-1918), millions of postcards were sent because they were an affordable, fast, and colorful way of communicating. Later, postcards became mainstays of resorts, hotels, restaurants, and roadside tourist attractions in the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.
Learn about the postcard craze and see postcards that depicted Neenah and Menasha from over 100 years ago along with their long past messages. Please feel free to bring along any old postcards you might have of the Twin Cities to share.
Mr. Galassie will be available after the program to sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase.
