Join us at Atlas Science Center on April 22 for our Earth Day celebration for all ages! Atlas Science Center recognizes that sustainable solutions are critical to the health and wellness of our planet and people. Volunteers from the American Chemical Society, the Pollenablers and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will be on hand for all types of interactive, center-wide Earth Day fun. Guests will enjoy half off admission and discounts in our gift shop.
Doors open at 11:00 AM for exploration of our exhibits including Sustainable Solutions. At 11:30 AM follow along with an Atlas educator as we show you how cow manure can become renewable gas. At 12:00 PM participate in our Science Live! stage show Survival: A Game Show About Sustainability. From 1:00-4:00 PM engage in Earth Day activities at several different stations. Join the American Chemical Society to learn all about the Chemistry of Amazing Algae; make alginate polymer worms and use microscopes to see algae up close. At the Pollenablers station, learn the advantages of No Mow May, build bee hotels (while supplies last) and explore hexagon hive geometry. At our Bioplastics station, understand what it means for plastic to be single-use versus biodegradable and build your own bioplastic to take home. And what would Earth Day without planting? Make your own seed paper in our River Level Paper Lab to take home and plant.
