ADULT AFTERNOON PROGRAM: HOLLYWOOD VS. HISTORY: ANCIENT ROME
Join us at the library on Monday, November 6th at 2:00 PM for the adult afternoon program, Hollywood vs. History: Ancient Rome presented by Gregory S. Aldrete, Author and Professor Emeritus of History and Humanistic Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Have you ever wondered how accurate your favorite Roman movie is? This talk will examine several of the most famous films set in ancient Rome, including Ben-Hur (1959) and Gladiator (2000), and reveal the historical accuracy of their plot, sets, costumes, and characters. In addition, you’ll hear interesting stories about the challenges that the filmmakers faced in bringing ancient Rome to vivid cinematic life.
The hour-long program will take place in the first floor Shattuck Community Room at the Neenah Public Library. All interested individuals are welcome to attend this free event. If accommodations are needed to attend, please contact the library at least 24 hours in advance of the program. For more information, please contact the reference desk by phone: 920-886-6315, e-mail: [email protected] or visit our website, www.neenahlibrary.org.
The Friends of the Neenah Public Library and the Neenah Public Library Trust Fund present the Concert Series. Donations are always accepted and appreciated.
