On August 22 at 7:15 am, runners will take the streets of Hilbert by storm for the 18th annual Cheesehead Run.
According to race director Mark Werner, “The Cheesehead delivers all of the benefits of a big city race, including an accurately measured and USTAF-certified course, with small town charm.”
Last year, 1500 people hit the road for the event. Age group winners take home hand-crafted awards, and elites have a chance to compete for a total of $2100 cash prizes, including $100 to the top male and female finishers of the 5K.
The race isn’t just for the fast and furious, though. The 5K gives runners and walkers a chance to hit the road and enjoy the race’s near-legendary cheesy post-race feast.
Proceeds from the events benefit the Hilbert Revitalization Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting citizens of the village of Hilbert.
The half marathon and half marathon relay start at 7:15, and the 5K starts at 7:45. The events start and finish on Main Street in Hilbert.
