What if every child in our community received a new book, just for them, this holiday season? Help make this a reality by bringing a new, unwrapped book suitable for babies through teens to the Neenah Public Library for our annual Give-a-Kid-a-Book campaign. We collect the books and give them to the Boys & Girls Brigade of the Fox Valley for distribution through their Christmas Giving program. The Neenah Public Library’s Give-a-Kid-a-Book collection runs from Sunday, November 1 through Friday, December 11.
The goals of the initiative are to provide a gift that families in need can enjoy and appreciate together, to demonstrate our community’s commitment to reading, and to put books in the hands of children who otherwise might not have their very own.
School groups, community organizations, individuals and families are invited to bring their gift books to the library’s youth department. Some schools make an event of their participation, with students collecting money, going on a buying trip to a bookstore to select books they think other children will like, then bringing the books to the library and celebrating their achievement. Whether you’re giving a single book or several, your generosity will help make a child’s holiday brighter – and your gift will continue to be enjoyed throughout the year.
