Alan Mullen of Appleton knew the wintry conditions would make capturing this shot at Sunset Park in Kimberly a tough one.
“To have snow and the water to be running and not frozen isn’t overly common on this slow creek,” he says. “I always thought this photo showed the quiet cold of winter, which seems like it lasts forever in Wisconsin.”
