Stone Arch Sessions: Scott Cook

Details

Doors 5pm – Music 7pm – $10 Suggested Donation

In 2007, Albertan songwriter Scott Cook quit his job teaching kindergarten in Taiwan and moved into a minivan. He’s made his living as a troubadour ever since, touring almost incessantly across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere, averaging a hundred shows and a dozen summer festivals a year, and releasing eight albums of plainspoken, keenly observant verse along the way. His seventh album Tangle of Souls spent two weeks at #1 on Alberta’s province-wide community radio network CKUA, and earned Scott his third Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, for English Songwriter of the Year, as well as first-place wins in the Great American Song Contest and UK Songwriting Contest. His 2026 follow-up Troubadourly Yours is his biggest work yet, packaged in a 264-page hardcover book of road stories and ruminations, and has already won the grand prize in the 2025 Great American Song Contest with its first single “There Is a River”. Amid all the bitterness and division in the world, Cook’s work is an ongoing invitation to circle up around the fire. Fresh from the open road, these are sturdy, straight-talking songs that see the good in you.
“Whip-smart, bone-achingly lovely, socially committed songs presented with a bold, elegant directness evoking the very best of the folk music tradition.” —Notional Space
