Rock On: I Love Rock ’n Roll exhibit

Bruce SpringsteenMarty Granius’ love for music has manifested into a new exhibit on view at The Hang Up Gallery of Fine Art in Neenah.

“I really like early rockers,” says Granius, who curated the exhibit and serves as gallery associate at The Hang Up Gallery. “The ‘American Graffiti’ soundtrack is the best of all time.”

“I Love Rock ’n Roll” is a group exhibit featuring mostly new works from 15 artists that center around their interpretations of rock and roll music. The work of Neenah painter and illustrator Cori Bartz focuses on female musicians. Tim Toonen, a Kaukauna native living in San Fransisco, is showing several pieces including one inspired by The Beatles’ “Blackbird” song lyrics. Granius’s illustrations pay tribute to classic acts such as The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.

The exhibit honors musicians and musical genres from various eras, with a strong representation of classic rock nostalgia.

“We wanted to do something a little different for the holidays,” Granius says. “It will be a nice trip down memory lane.”

“I Love Rock ’n Roll” will be on view from through January 31 . For more information, contact The Hang Up Gallery at 722-0481.
