Stroll through a quaint collection of five separate museum attractions highlighting the local area’s history. Buildings include Steamboat House (1920), Railroad Depot (1880), One Room Schoolhouse (1880), Little Country Home (1900) and the Kay Wilde Doll Cottage. Historically preserved buildings authentically displayed. Museum grounds conveniently arranged in a single venue and a park like setting.
Steamboat House: Experience the original preserved interior cabins of the paddle steamboat “Leander Choate”. One-of-a-kind. The Steamboat House has a long storied existence and are the only intact remnants of the prominent steamboat era that once dominated transportation on the Lake Winnebago, Fox & Wolf River waterways from 1850-1920.
Railroad Depot: Former local terminal of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway representative of the railroad’s impact on Wisconsin’s early development. The three room depot is authentically displayed in a late 1800s – early 1900s setting complete with station master’s desk, telegraph, post office, railroad antiques and local business memorabilia. A favorite for railroad enthusiasts.
One Room Schoolhouse: Wonderful example of the rural one room schoolhouse that once populated the Wisconsin countryside. Displayed with original student desks, teacher’s desk, slate chalkboards, reading boards, maps, wood stove and pump organ.
Little Country Home: Single room cottage recreated in a turn-of-the-century country parlor setting. Authentically displayed with pedal sewing machine, oak ice box, spinning wheel, wood cooking stove, butter churn, dry sink, pie safe & pump organ.
The Kay Wilde Doll Cottage: Home to thousands of antique dolls of varying sizes, styles and composition exhibited in a beautiful cobblestone cottage. Largest doll collection in Wisconsin.
