Welcome to The World of Jan Brett, a fun and educational traveling exhibit that brings to life the stories of the beloved children’s author/illustrator. Original artwork invites visitors to travel the globe and become a part of their favorite books.
The World of Jan Brett welcomes visitors into the vivid cultures and endless imagination of the beloved children’s tales. “When you look at my illustrations I hope they take you to a different place and time,” aspires Jan Brett. “Every illustration has a dozen stories behind the bruchstrokes.”
The exhibit features over 70 original paintings from Jan Brett’s bestselling books, including Gingerbread Friends, The Umbrella and Honey…Honey…Lion!, which take visitors on a journey around the world to learn about the places and cultures that inspire Jan Brett. Professionally framed and matted art shows the intricate brush strokes and great detail that goes into each book illustration. From tropical rainforests to Arctic igloos, visitors are invited to step into the pages of best-loved Jan Brett stories.
The World of Jan Brett is a traveling exhibition organized by the Oshkosh Public Museum in partnership with Jan Brett. The exhibit’s display is part of a nationwide tour.
