The Calidore String Quartet made international headlines as the 2016 winner of the $100,000 grand prize in the inaugural M-Prize International Chamber Music Competition, the largest prize for chamber music in the world. Their “deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct” (New York Times) and “balance of intellect and expression” (Los Angeles Times) have won them accolades across the globe and firmly established them as one of the finest chamber music ensembles performing today. They will be joined by guest artist Cristina Gómez Godoy. The Spanish oboist combines technical brilliance with musical expressiveness, stunning virtuosity with artistic sensitivity and “miraculously effortless instinctiveness” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
