Building on the success of its inaugural 2017 season, the Fox River Chamber Fest returns to Appleton for a second season this summer. Founded and directed by Wisconsin native, Joseph Hauer, professional musicians with local roots or connections will gather from across the country to present four different classical chamber music concerts in eight days on Friday, July 13 at 7pm; Sunday, July 15 at 3pm; Thursday, July 19 at 7pm; and Saturday, July 21 at 7pm. All concerts will take place at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E. North St., in downtown Appleton and are free of charge and open to the public.

The goal of the Fox River Chamber Fest is to enrich the vibrant culture of the Fox Cities by making chamber music of the highest artistic level accessible, engaging and enriching for the community.

Returning from last summer are Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) violinists Alex Ayers and Paul Hauer; violist Rebecca Johnson, violin/viola teacher in New Haven, CT; cellist Bryan Hayslett, Ph.D. candidate at NYU Steinhardt; and pianist Jacob Ertl, assistant professor of piano at Nazareth College. Joining these musicians are Catherine Chen, principal bassoon of the MSO; Austin Larson, French horn with the Baltimore Symphony; pianist Gregory Wang, DMA candidate at Indiana University; and Matthew Michelic, professor of viola at Lawrence University.

New this year is a day of educational outreach on Monday, July 16, which will include opportunities for local students to receive private and public instruction from the Chamber Fest musicians.
