The 75th anniversary of the massive D-Day invasion of World War II will be commemorated at EAA Aviation Museum on Thursday, June 6, with a new exhibit – D-Day Plus 75.

Join us for the grand opening of the new D-Day Plus 75 exhibit at 10 am, starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that WWII veterans are invited to attend. Outside of Eagle Hangar will be WWII vehicles displayed including a very rare D-Day landing craft.

Immerse yourself in this important day in history with a variety of items and information:

An original WWII-era Willy’s Army Jeep. The Jeep became a symbol of the everyday life of the soldier in WWII.
Weapons used in the invasion such as the M-1 Garand, Thompson machine gun, and more.
Personal items will be on display such as equipment as well as photos and logbooks.
Examples of actual enemy souvenirs, like those that soldiers often picked up as they fought their way across Europe.
Historical images that captured pivotal moments from one of the most significant operations in military history.

At 6:30 pm the Skyscape Theater Royale will feature The Longest Day, the star-studded 1962 war epic that brings the events of that fateful June day to life. A group of living history re-enactors will be on hand to display their gear and talk about the history of D-Day.
