Johnnie Aysgarth, a seemingly well-to-do playboy, meets and marries Lina McLaidlaw, an heiress-to-be. Initially smitten by Johnnie’s charm, her suspicion is fueled by two aspects of Johnnie’s character: Firstly, what does he do for a living? Secondly, why is he interested in untraceable poisons?
