Visit a historic covered bridge.
Three miles north of town lies one of Wisconsin’s last covered bridges. Covered Bridge Park is the perfect place to pack a picnic, fish or relax with a book. Waterfront opportunities also offer outdoor activities including canoeing, kayaking and offshore grilling. The bridge’s unique and mesmerizing history is rich and full of mystery, as there are many theories as to why the bridge was built with a cover. Some say it was to shelter travelers from inclement weather and some say it was to level off hayloads as it passed through. Either way, the bridge’s unique physique continues to lure tourists and locals alike. For more information and a full history of the bridge, visit co.ozaukee.wi.us.
Hit the Ozaukee Interurban Trail.
The Interurban Trail is a one-of-a-kind, historical landmark. Its 30 miles of paved trails are open to the public year-round and are 100 percent free. The trail follows the old railroad tracks connecting Mequon, Thiensville, Grafton, Port Washington, and of course, Cedarburg. Outdoor enthusiasts can bike, rollerblade, cross-country ski, run or walk. Scenic views of woodlands, wetlands, waterways and farmland makes this trail an adventure for all ages.
