Fun Beverages to Try This Summer
Summer has hit the city and we’ve never wanted to stroll in the sunshine more. Partly because in at least one hand we’ll be sipping the unique and refreshing—not to mention colorful and selfie-worthy!—beverages of the Fox Cities.
From milkshakes and bubble tea to shaved ice and “dirty” soda, take a sip of some of the fun concoctions our local establishments offer:
Uni Uni Bubble Tea, Appleton
A veteran, woman, and minority-owned business, Uni Uni Bubble Tea is an Asian pop culture-themed bubble tea store. It offers tea-inspired drinks, one-of-a-kind desserts and a variety of fun merchandise.
“Our beverages are highly customizable, with a wide array of gluten-free and dairy-free options available,” owners Fanni Xie and Amber Li say. “More than just serving delicious drinks and food, Uni Uni Appleton aims to provide an immersive cultural experience through creative events and community engagement.”

Ancient Brown Sugar Milk Tea: Freshly brewed Assam black tea with non-dairy creamer and sweetened with dark brown sugar. It comes with the most iconic brown sugar Tapioca.
Lychee Peach Jasmine Tea: Lychee and Peach flavored green tea with a hint of jasmine and dragonfruit. It comes with Mango Star Jelly and the Lychee Jelly.
Mermaid Melody: A delicious smoothie made from blue curacao syrup and Yakult. It is a perfect drink when you feel fancy!
Soda Bar, Appleton
Soda Bar provides handcrafted fountain drinks, commonly referred to as “dirty soda” in culture. “We take a base soda, like Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, Mt Dew, Root Beer, etc., and add flavors and creams to help the beverage reach its full potential and take your soda drinking experience to the next level,” Co-Owner Rod Richardson explains.

Dr. McDreamy: a Dr. Pepper base soda with strawberry, coconut, vanilla and half and half.
Watermelon Sugar: Mountain Dew with watermelon, strawberry, vanilla and coconut cream.
Monthly special for June: New refresher drinks that are water and fruit based.
Uncle Mike’s Food Emporium, Appleton
“Uncle Mike’s Food Emporium is an award winning bakery that also has a coffee bar featuring Colectivo coffee and an ice cream area with our homemade ice cream,” Co-Owner Nathan Vande Walle explains. “There is also a restaurant and bar specializing in wood-fired pizza with the bar serving up craft cocktails and a selection of 16 draft beers.”

Coconut Refresher: House made coconut mixture of coconut milk, coconut water and simple syrup. Topped with nutmeg.
Strawberry Boba Lemonade: Fresh squeezed lemonade with flavorful strawberry boba pearls.
Monthly special for June: Sea Salt Caramel Pecan Kringle Shake (SSCP Shake) with homemade SSCP Ice Cream and make it into a shake. Topped off with whip cream and kringle bite.
Tropical Sno, Appleton
Specializing in authentic Hawaiian shaved ice with a lineup of 40+ flavors and concoctions, Tropical Sno also features novelty beverages such as smoothies and milkshakes.
“We’re committed to delivering a one-of-a-kind experience, spreading joy, and crafting unforgettable memories that light up faces with smiles,” Owner Lisa Kroening says.
