SUMMARY:Traditional Irish Session
DESCRIPTION:Every Fourth Monday | McFleshman’s Brewing Company | Appleton\, WI \nJoin us for a traditional Irish music session at McFleshman’s. Musicians and listeners alike are welcome for an evening of lively tunes\, great beer\, and good company. \nThis is an open session for players who enjoy traditional Irish music. Prior playing experience is highly encouraged\, as tunes move along in the traditional session style. Some musicians play by ear\, others read the notes — either approach is welcome. \nNo rehearsals\, no formal set list — just a group of musicians sharing tunes in the moment. \nNot a musician? Come grab a pint and enjoy the music. Sessions are one of the great traditions of Irish culture\, where the music\, the room\, and the community all come together.

SUMMARY:Juliani Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:The Juliani Ensemble — violinist Julian Graef\, cellist Anita Graef\, and pianist Nathan Canfield — opens the Green Lake Festival of Music season with a free program that places Classical masterworks alongside bold American voices. Mozart’s sparkling Piano Trio in B-flat Major and Amy Beach’s richly expressive trio highlight the depth and lyricism of the chamber tradition\, while David Baker’s Roots II and Paul Schoenfield’s electrifying Café Music bring jazz-infused rhythms\, vernacular styles\, and distinctly American musical storytelling to the forefront. Audiences are invited to a special pre-concert talk at 7:00 p.m.\, followed by an evening that celebrates the breadth of chamber music and the vitality of American repertoire. \nThis free concert also reflects a meaningful artistic connection central to the festival’s 2026 theme of musical relationships and continuity. The Juliani Ensemble shares close ties with Paul Graf’s Chamber Music Festival\, a sister Wisconsin program\, and has already built a history with the Green Lake Festival of Music through past collaborations. Departing Artistic & Executive Director Sam Handley reflects on that relationship: “They’re a young ensemble I’ve supported through our sister chamber program in Wisconsin. When we faced a last-minute cancellation due to weather\, they stepped in with only hours’ notice and delivered a beautiful concert. That spirit of partnership and artistry made it clear we wanted to bring them back with real preparation and a program that shows what they do best.”\nOpening the season with this ensemble underscores the festival’s commitment to artistic partnership while spotlighting American compositional voices that connect jazz\, folk\, and concert traditions — a fitting celebration of collaboration\, heritage\, and musical innovation. \nNo tickets required! Since 2016\, GLFM has offered concerts without direct charge\, instead relying on generous support from grants\, corporations\, sponsors\, individual donors\, and free-will donations at concerts.

SUMMARY:Appleton Historical Society: History of Fox River Lines
DESCRIPTION:Discover the fascinating history of Appleton with the Appleton Historical Society and Appleton Public Library! Join us for engaging\, monthly presentations where history comes alive – every 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 pm (no December meeting). Each session features a different speaker and topic\, all dedicated to celebrating and exploring Appleton’s rich past. Best of all\, it’s completely free and open to everyone – no membership required! Learn more about Appleton Historical Society at https://www.appletonhistory.com/. \nThis month’s presentation: History of Fox River Lines \nCome explore the story of Appleton’s first transit system\, Fox River Lines\, founded by Doris and Olaf Lundquist in 1924. The history of the company will be shared by Cassie Carter Boyd\, the proud daughter of Sherry McIntyre\, granddaughter of Gloria Kuepper\, and great-granddaughter of Doris and Olaf. Growing up\, Cassie spent time helping at the family-run company\, often sweeping buses as they returned from a day of carrying passengers throughout the community. Fox River Lines thrived for decades\, expanding into charter services and the school bus network before closing in 1980\, two years after the City of Appleton purchased its urban-transit division and launched what is now Valley Transit. \nCassie’s favorite memories include riding in the company buses during the Christmas Parade and appearing on the family’s parade floats along College Avenue. Although she has lived in Denver since 1996\, she continues to honor her family’s legacy by visiting the original headquarters whenever she returns home\, paying tribute to the man who began it all: Olaf Lundquist.

SUMMARY:Kronos Quartet
DESCRIPTION:A centerpiece of the season\, the legendary Kronos Quartet makes its first appearance at the Green Lake Festival of Music\, bringing five decades of fearless artistry to the stage. The San Francisco–based ensemble has redefined the string quartet through bold programming\, global collaborations\, and more than seventy boundary-breaking recordings. Audiences are invited to a pre-concert talk with the performers at 7:00 p.m.\, followed by a free evening concert marked by intensity\, curiosity\, and musical discovery. \nThis appearance carries special resonance for GLFM. Departing Artistic & Executive Director Sam Handley reflects\, “A centerpiece event is the debut of the Kronos Quartet—their first appearance at GLFM. Three members of the groundbreaking ensemble previously served on the faculty of GLFM’s Chamber Music Institute (CMI).” Gabriela Díaz\, Ayane Kozasa\, and Paul Wiancko have each played meaningful roles within the Institute\, with Díaz returning in consecutive post-pandemic seasons to perform and collaborate during a pivotal period for the festival. Their continued relationship underscores the festival’s theme of connection — artists who teach\, perform\, and grow alongside the GLFM community. \nFeaturing David Harrington with Díaz\, Kozasa\, and Wiancko\, Kronos brings its unmistakable voice to this free performance that unites international influence with deep institutional ties\, offering audiences a rare convergence of innovation\, history\, and shared artistic roots. \nNo tickets required! Since 2016\, GLFM has offered concerts without direct charge\, instead relying on generous support from grants\, corporations\, sponsors\, individual donors\, and free-will donations at concerts.
