Evergreen Theater Celebrates the 60th Anniversary of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music With a Joyful New Production

[Green Bay, WI] — [01/19/2026] — Evergreen Theater proudly announces its upcoming production of The Sound of Music, presented in honor of the beloved musical’s 60th anniversary. This milestone staging pays tribute to one of the most cherished works in American musical theatre, bringing its timeless story, singable songs and historical themes that have been resonating with audiences since it first hit the stage.

Premiering on Broadway in 1959 and reaching global acclaim with the 1965 film adaptation, The Sound of Music has spent six decades capturing hearts around the world. Evergreen Theatre’s anniversary production embraces the show’s legacy while offering fresh creative energy, vibrant performances, and a renewed appreciation for the themes that have made it iconic: family, courage, hope, and the transformative power of music. It will also be presented in Evergreen Theater’s new space – Helen Keller School in Green Bay.

Directed by Jeremy Pelegrin and Music Direction by April Strom-Johnson, the production also features a talented local cast, and the sweeping storytelling that has made The Sound of Music a cultural touchstone. Audiences can expect all the songs they love, including the show’s most recognizable numbers, presented with Evergreen Theatre’s signature warmth and artistry.
