A Breath of Fresh Air: Conclusion

“I am glad I will not be young in a future without wilderness.” — Aldo Leopold

Throughout the summer and the course of this blog series, I have spent my time in some of the most beautiful and wild places that the Fox Cities has to offer. From the Butterfly Gardens of Wisconsin to High Cliff State Park, there is so much to see that it feels as if I’ve only scratched the surface.

I started this series with the goal of coming back to the calm and quiet of nature and inspiring you to do the same. I hope that hearing about some of your local natural areas has encouraged you to explore the area and find your own special space to reconnect with nature.

So many beautiful natural environments have been destroyed – take the many wetlands that were drained or filled throughout Wisconsin, for example. Spending time in these natural areas has made me realize that we tend to take them for granted and we shouldn’t.

With that said, I encourage you to take advantage of your local parks and nature preserves and spend some quality time outside with friends and family. Lots of preserves, like Bubolz in Appleton, offer  programming that is both fun and educational. I hope that you have enjoyed this series, and thank you for reading!
