As of October 1, Sai Ram Indian Cuisine is a family-run restaurant once again.

SivaKumar Rajarathinam and his wife, Priya Sivakumar, worked with Chicago-based business partners to reopen the restaurant on October 5, 2015 after a brief closure following the retirement of the previous owners.

Sai Ram has operated as a partnership business for last five years, but as of October 1, Priya Sivakumar bought it completely and is running the restaurant as a single family business.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Rajarathinam says the restaurant continues to flourish and it was the right time to take independent ownership.

“When COVID hit, I was really worried, but we did not see many changes. All our customers kept coming,” Rajarathinam says. “Even with the crisis we are able to do good.”

So good, in fact, that Rajarathinam has his sights set on expansion in the New Year.

“We want to expand to Green Bay,” he says. “That’s my goal for next year.”
