Fox Valley Restaurant Week Kicks Off September 20

A new and improved Fox Valley Restaurant Week will run September 20-26, offering attendees everything they love (like great food at killer prices) in addition to a new charitable component.

During the week, $1 from each plate served at participating establishments will support the general operations of Volunteer Fox Cities, a nonprofit organization that connects volunteers to community needs.

“We support more than 100 nonprofits,” says Susan Vanden Heuvel, executive director of Volunteer Fox Cities in Appleton. “Instead of having to pick one, by supporting our operations you are actually supporting a number of nonprofits in our community.”

As in past years, Restaurant Week attendees will get to sample prix fixe three-course menus at participating restaurants during both lunch and dinner. Lunches are $13 (an $18 value). Dinners are offered at two price points, $26 ($32 value) or $36 ($43 value). Currently there are 22 participating restaurants.

The week-long event was originally launched as Fox Cities Restaurant Week in 2015 by a team of young professionals, but changed hands to a steering committee of participating restaurants in 2017.

Now in its fourth year, the event name has been changed to Fox Valley Restaurant Week and Volunteer Fox Cities, formerly the Volunteer Center of East Central Wisconsin, is handling the event logistics and promotions.

“I think this is a great way, as a we go through our own rebranding, to reposition ourselves and let people know what we do and what we have brought to the community in our 25 year history,” Vanden Heuvel says.
