Snooze at the Zoo
The Oshkosh Parks Department will host their annual Snooze at the Zoo event on September 8 and 9. The family-friendly event allows attendees to camp out under the stars at the Menominee Park Zoo in Oshkosh with all of their favorite animals.
“This event is unique to sleep overnight at the zoo,” says Special Events Coordinator Julie Sonnenschein. “It was introduced for first time campers and allows them to try it in a unique way.” This event is also a fundraiser with proceeds benefitting the zoo’s improvements, updates and maintenance.
Check in begins at 1 p.m. on September 8 and campers will be officially welcomed at 3 p.m. Activities include crafts and an animal enrichment program where campers will get to learn about specific animals. Dinner and s’mores will be provided and there will also be an outdoor showing of Disney’s “The Lion King” at dusk. Breakfast is provided the following morning.
Snooze at the Zoo is open to the public and registration is required by August 20. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and water bottle in addition to meals and snacks.
