Manhole Cover Madness

Future Neenah will be hosting Manhole Cover Madness, a first-time event for the whole community on Saturday, September 8, under the Winneconne Avenue overpass across from Washington Park in Neenah. This new event is a celebration of Neenah’s iconic manhole covers that are seen on streets around the world.

The event kicks off with a fun run at 10 a.m. beginning at Ground Round and ending at the event grounds. A ninja course will be run by Drew Knapp, owner of Warrior Jungle and a former season 10 contestant on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. The ninja course, which includes feats of strength, agility and coordination, will be available for those to compete in from 12 to 4 p.m.

For children, there will be activities such as an inflatable ninja course, bungee jump station, manhole cover Plinko, segway rides, screen printing manhole cover T-shirts and trike races.

Several local food trucks will rally nearby to provide a variety of food options during the daylong event and ‘80s rock cover band, Cherry Pie, will perform from 4 to 8 p.m. Future Neenah Executive Director Amy Barker says she anticipates the event will become an annual tradition.
