Fox Valley Craft Beer Week
The third annual Fox Valley Craft Beer Week, which coincides with American Craft Beer Week, will run May 14 through 20 at locations throughout the area. The week-long celebration recognizes the accomplishments of small, independent craft brewers.
Organizing the week’s beer-centered events is a group of local distributors that includes Todd “DJ” Talady of Wisconsin Distributors, Katie Major of General Beer, Megan Harrison and Matt Mleziva of Kay Distributors, Darren Wimmer of Lee Beverage and Brett Schaetz of Beechwood Sales.
Events will include rare barrel tappings, opportunities to meet visiting brewmasters, a growler paint night, a bike to brunch excursion and exclusive beer flight samplings.
“A lot of the events we are creating are unique and fun events that you might not normally see,” Talady says. “We will offer limited tappings from barrels that are very rare that wouldn’t be regularly available in this area.”
Events will take place at numerous venues throughout the Fox Valley including Milwaukee Burger Company, Bazil’s Pub and Provisions, Fox River House, Mr. Brews Taphouse and more. Appleton Downtown Inc. is hosting a Craft Beer Walk through Appleton’s downtown and riverfront on May 19 from 2 to 8 p.m. Participants stroll from venue to venue with each stop offering samples of Wisconsin-brewed craft beer. This event requires tickets, but most of the week’s events are free.
