Intern Intro: Hibah

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Say hello to Hibah, the newest editorial intern to join the FCM squad.

Name: Hibah Ansari

Age: 20

Hometown: Appleton, WI

School attending: I am currently a sophomore at UW Oshkosh.

Tell us about your background:

I’ve lived in Appleton ever since I was 4 years old, so it definitely is a place I can call home. I enjoy traveling, but I know that Appleton is always waiting for me to come back. I’m looking forward to connecting with my hometown even more through my internship here at FCM.

Why did you want to be an intern at FCM?

I would like to gain more experience as a journalist, and I feel that FCM is the perfect place for me to share meaningful stories about the area.

What’s your favorite thing about the Fox Cities?

The humble people and the art scene, of course!

The last book you read:

Istanbul by Orhan Pamuk.

Last movie you watched:

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, a wonderful finale to my much-needed Star Wars marathon.

Any hidden talents?

I’ve been an aimless doodler ever since I was young. I’ve only recently started taking my art seriously, and I’m currently working on an oil painting.

What can’t you live without?

Lipstick. You never know if you might end up in a situation where you need to look put together. Lipstick is a great shortcut to looking like you know what you’re talking about even if you don’t.

What’s the biggest risk you ever took?

Changing who I was friends with in high school. It may not seem like a very big risk, but at the time it was probably the most life-changing thing a teenager could do. I’m happy to say that those friends really helped shaped who I am today, and they’ve remained my family even after graduation.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

I had a professor who once yelled at our class for writing boring papers, and she begged us to be interesting in our writing, in our social lives, at work. To simply be interesting is something that has always resonated with me.

Describe your perfect Saturday:

Sleeping in and then having a late breakfast out on the patio, and maybe work on a painting. Then I would probably read a book, until spontaneous plans have been set for the evening by my friends.
